Determination! That's what is needed in this situation.
Today is Saturday, so no alarm clock set for me. After a rough night, I woke at 0640. Yep, that's my body's idea of 'sleeping in.' It's a cloudy day here in North Texas, so it wasn't really bright enough to start cleaning without throwing on a lot of lights. It was, however, light enough to fill the dog food bowls and go outside to feed them. So that's where my day started. Dogs fed, cats fed, fish fed...oh, let's feed me, too! I am on day two of the sore throat, achy head and body, cough and chest congestion, so no dairy products for me. Start the bacon and the scrambled egg and heat the water for some tea. Salt water gargle while I'm waiting. Notice I still have a blanket in the washer - take that out and toss it out on the line to dry (we are expecting low 70's here today). Ah...food is done.
The food and tea have now been consumed! My body now has some fuel to fight off whatever this 'crud' is that is invading my calendar!
0745 and it now seems light enough to start getting some things done.
Since I've been kinda lazy about it lately, today starts the official kick off of my return to Mindful Living adventure. Seeing as how my 'ball of yarn' is a tangled mess and kind of stuck right now, today will be a day of paying attention, taking notes and starting some lists. Time to see what will come out of it ~
Come hang out with me for a bit and be challenged to discover who you really are and what you really want out of life. Then, be encouraged to jump and reach for that dream!

My ball of yarn must have fallen into a puddle of goopy glue!
Ever have one of those days that absolutely everything seems tangled up within everything else? One where you try to do one thing, but it requires something else to be done first, but that isn't something you can do at the moment? A day where that ball of yarn that was nice and neatly rolled at one point, but has since been tossed on the floor and played with by a few cats...then the Gremlins got it and played for a bit and - just for good measure - tossed it into a big puddle of glue when they were finished with it?
Yep, it's one of those times!
This typically happens when I am on a mission to get something done...not just anything, but a "something." We aren't talking dishes and laundry, but a mission! This is when Mr. Murphy puts a call into the devil himself and they team up. They pull in the Dust Bunnies (did you know they were evil creatures?), the Gremlins and every other negative evil little minion they can scrounge up. Then they set about wreaking havoc in my world. Yep, they tossed my already tangled ball of yarn in the goopy glue!

Forget Careful Unraveling!
The careful unraveling attempt has got me nowhere but in circles for a while now. My old time friends would likely agree with me when I say I can be impulsive at times; not always taking time to ponder much before pouncing.
You. Yeah, you over there ready this right now…just bite your tongue!
So my firm feet and holstered determination decided to jump right down in the middle of my Alphabet War. By nature’s design I am slightly ADD and a bit OCD. Put those opposing forces together and you get? Someone wanting everything right and right now! I’ve always been pretty good at knowing what I want. I just don’t always take the usual or proper way to get it.
Again – You, bite your tongue!
Over the past week or so, I called a Summit Meeting and invited ADD and OCD to join. I also invited Procrastination, Determination, Could Really Care Less and a few other squirrelly fellows to the table. I put forth my agenda and let the chatter begin. Let me tell you, it was utter chaos for a while as all of them laid out their personalities and preferences! When I had listened to as much as I could from the whiners and control freaks, realizing they could go on like this for days, weeks, or even months if Procrastination had any say in things, I stomped the almighty boot down in the midst of them all. I had actually been listening to their whining, complaining and controlling attitudes and had mashed them all together into a nice neat little battle plan! Many were outraged, but as you will soon see, the plan encompasses all of their wants and needs.

My Option - Stand My Ground!
Those who know me, who really know me, likely have a few choice words to describe me. Among the nicer of the varieties, you will likely find: stubborn, strong willed and bull headed. What can I say? I’m a Taurus! I have made my choice and I am standing my ground. Then, I will push forward, recapturing territories lost along the way.
That choice having been made, I grabbed that “ball of yarn” by the bristles and gave it a good hard stare down. I didn’t like what I saw tangled up in that mess, so I set my feet firm and holstered on my determination. I had another decision to make. I could attempt to carefully unravel it, little by little; pondering each little move before it was made, or I could set a challenging course before me, jumping in with all I the might I could muster.

Life is but a ball of yarn...
Life is but a ball of yarn…
That the cats have fought over, torn and drug all over the place and caused it to become a tangled and knotted up mess!
What do you do when that ball of yarn starts to strangle you, the Dust Bunnies have invited their friends - the Gremlins - over and your kids have forgotten they shouldn’t be fed after midnight? You duck because the pipes are about to burst and spew water all over said Dust Bunnies and Gremlins!
Now the Gremlins have multiplied, the Dust Bunnies have transformed into Muck Monsters and the kids – well, they are hiding under their beds!
What do you do? Though it may be tempting to set fire to the whole lot – minus the kids, of course – that is not an option. You can’t run forward as the collective enemies have set up a road block. Your options are: retreat or stand your ground!
